What is Wingdings?
Wingdings is a font that was created by Microsoft in 1990. The font was originally called “Wingdings and Webdings” but the company later renamed it to just Wingdings. It’s primarily used for symbols, dingbats, ornaments, and other decorative purposes.
There are over 300 glyphs in the font which can be used as symbols for math equations or chemistry reactions. The most popular use of this typeface is to create logos because it’s so versatile. You can find many different versions of this typeface on Google Fonts.
Wingdings are special symbols in our font. They can be used digitally today. Dingbats are called this because they were used in print before to make text look nice. There are three versions of them, but Microsoft made all of them. You can use the dingbats easier in digital worlds thanks to Unicode.

Unicode is a system for typing letters that people use on their computers. A lot of people type letters with computers, and Unicode has made it easier to use lots of symbols. People can now type them without needing to install anything.
The Unicode Consortium put the original Wingdings symbols into the standard. This means that you can actually output unicode symbols in that box, and then copy and paste them anywhere where unicode symbols are supported. Note that even though all of the original Wingding characters are now in Unicode, this does not mean your web browser has implemented them yet. So some symbols may not work.
